Every September I have been excited, wistful as they left again with backpacks and lunches. After almost a year of uncertainty and struggling to varying degrees, I am a bit more detached than grateful, more numb than thoughtful. I know we will get better, get back, become more whole; but I find I need to acknowledge, on repeat, how surreal and scary and sad these many months have been. Forward is a good direction, and this simple routine is a step.-
